Shanti Niketan is an up-market housing colony in the heart of New Delhi, was originally developed by the Government of India in the 1960s as a housing colony for government officials. With time, houses in the colony have been sold in the open market and most of the current owners are industrialists.

The neighborhood is primarily residential and consisted of six streets named 1 to 6. Shanti Niketan having its own local market for daily needs store, a Coffee Shop, a Pizza outlet and a few ATMs.

Shanti Niketan has very good proximity to the Basant Lok market which now has many multi-national chain stores, restaurants and newly-opened lounges. The market also contains the movie theater PVR Priya and nearest hospitals are Holy Angels (Basant Lok) and Primus (Chanakyapuri).
