Shanti Niketan is an up-market housing colony in the heart of New Delhi, was originally developed by the Government of India in the 1960s as a housing colony for government officials. With time, houses in the colony have been sold in the open market and most of the current owners are industrialists.
Shanti Niketan is relatively close to the domestic/international airport and become even closer after constructions of the new flyovers. Shanti Niketan has very good proximity to the Basant Lok market which now has many multi-national chain stores, restaurants and newly-opened lounges. The market also contains the movie theater PVR Priya and nearest hospitals are Holy Angels (Basant Lok) and Primus (Chanakyapuri).
